Meet Lawna Wigle, FNP-BC
Lawna is a board-certified nurse practitioner who trained at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With over a decade of experience in managing and counseling patients with diabetes and obesity, she has developed a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding these conditions. Recognizing that they can be incredibly stressful, she understands how this pressure can lead to anxiety and feeling overwhelmed, especially when compounded by societal stigmas and misconceptions. This awareness drives her commitment to providing compassionate support, ensuring that her patients feel understood and empowered throughout their health journeys. Lawna believes that by fostering a nurturing environment, she can help individuals navigate their challenges with confidence and resilience.
“Lawna truly listened and created a plan that worked for me. With her guidance and support, I was able to reach my health goals and feel better than I have in years.”

Nutrition support
Nutrition support is crucial for managing glucose levels and achieving weight goals. A diet focused on whole foods—like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats—helps stabilize blood sugar and promotes fullness. Low-glycemic index foods are especially helpful, as they release energy slowly and prevent glucose spikes. Understanding portion sizes and practicing mindful eating can encourage healthier choices. Personalized nutrition guidance enables individuals to develop sustainable habits, improving health and making glucose control and weight management more achievable.
-
Medication
Medications for diabetes and weight management can be a vital part of a comprehensive treatment plan. For individuals struggling to control their blood sugar levels, various medications can enhance insulin sensitivity, reduce glucose production, and improve overall metabolic function. Additionally, some medications are specifically designed to aid weight loss, providing an extra layer of support for those facing obesity-related challenges. These treatments can be particularly beneficial when lifestyle changes alone are insufficient.
-
Coaching
Coaching patients to improve glucose control and lose weight is a collaborative process. In personalized sessions, we help individuals set realistic goals and create actionable plans tailored to their lifestyles. By educating them on balanced nutrition, physical activity, and mindful eating, we empower them to understand how their choices affect their health. We also address challenges, celebrate small victories, and build resilience. Our supportive environment fosters confidence, encouraging patients to take ownership of their health and make lasting changes.

Technology
Technology transforms diabetes treatment and management with innovative tools that enhance patient care. Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) provide real-time data for accurate blood sugar tracking, while insulin pumps and smart pens simplify medication delivery with precise dosing. Mobile apps enable users to log food, exercise, and glucose readings, promoting proactive management. This integration streamlines communication between patients and healthcare providers, empowering individuals to take control of their health and making diabetes management more efficient and personalized.
